It smells like spring

And this is the time of year where the flowers bloom, the sky is pretty-pink in the morning and the birds are singing. It won't be a long time before the trees turn green, the bees are buzzing and we are running around in the grass barefooted. I can feel it inside of me, how the winter is finally stepping out of the picture, and the summer is taking over. The mornings where I am being woken up by the sunrise, shining through my shutters, and where I don't feel freezing when leaving my bed. I can almost smell the upcoming barbeques in our back yard, and imagine how we are sitting with our eyes closed at the outside table, because the sun is just too bright for us to keep them open. My favorite time of the year has arrived. The fitness center must wait, I have to run outside, breathing the fresh air. The annoying feeling of sand all over after have been spending the entire morning and afternoon at the beach, with towels, bikinis, blankets and ice-creams. Cooking dinners with fresh Danish vegetables, small potatoes, and picking strawberries in our own garden. Shorts and tanned legs, and sunglasses in the hair. On with the flip-flops, because our pedicure has to be shown. And then it happens. July arrives...

Florida. South Florida. Back to Pembroke Pines. A girlfriend of mine and I are going to fly back to Fort Lauderdale. Gonna visit my family and look at palm trees and enjoy the beaches and eat ice-cream from Yoghurtland. I can't even stop smiling when I think of it. So many laughs. Going to see a lot of American friends, it has been so long. This time is wonderful and happy and colorful. It makes me feel just right.
